Managing Hyperlipidemia: Primary Prevention of CAD | Harvard Medical School Continuing Education

How have risk-based treatment recommendations for managing blood cholesterol changed in the latest guideline updates? Do you know how select the correct treatment based on new risk categories? What risk-enhancing factors affect categorization?
Dr. Romit Bhattacharya, MD, a cardiologist at Massachusetts General Hospital, explains the most recent updates to the 2018 ACC/AHA Guideline on the Management of Blood Cholesterol and how they affect risk stratification for managing blood cholesterol. Primary risk groups are the focus of this talk in which new risk categories are reviewed and risk-enhancing factors are identified. The use of the risk estimators and CAC scoring is discussed.
