Nampa PD training officers on how to respond to mental health crisis calls

Police officers often find themselves in difficult situations, none more so than when a person is having a mental health crisis,

A spokesperson with the Nampa Police Department says mental health calls are fairly common, especially since the beginning of the pandemic.

“Sometimes we go through a stretch where we don’t respond to any, and there will be shifts where we respond to quite a few actually,” said Lieutenant Jamie Burns.

On Monday, the department tweeted a picture of officers helping a family who was trying to get help for a family member struggling with mental health issues.
