Understanding and Addressing the Public Health Burden of Food Allergy

This presentation will provide an overview of the current US population-level distribution and determinants of food allergy, including its physical and psychological health impacts. The presentation will also briefly describe ongoing efforts to better understand and prevent food allergy that are currently underway at the IPHAM Center for Food Allergy and Asthma Research–including population-based survey research, observational cohort and interventional studies.

Dr. Warren is an epidemiologist who has conducted research into the public health burden of food allergy and other atopic disease since 2011. He received his doctorate in 2019 from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine’s Department of Population and Public Health Sciences and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Sean N. Parker Center for Allergy and Asthma Research at Stanford University in 2021. As Assistant Professor of Preventive Medicine and Director of Population Health at Northwestern University’s Center for Food Allergy and Asthma Research (CFAAR) the overarching focus of Dr. Warren’s research is to characterize and ameliorate the burden of food allergy via large-scale epidemiological studies and behavioral interventions.
